Two computers, one old (xp) one new (Vista).  Can't see each other (Linksys router)
Here's my setup: Old computer: Windows XP Home New computer: Windows Visa Home Premium Here's the problem. I have a linksys firewall/router. Both computers connect to the internet just fine, but can not see each other. A ping of the other machine from either results in a timeout. Both machines can ping the router, however. Both machines are set to the same NETWORK and WORKGROUP name, but as I said, they're invisible to each other. I want to set up some shared folders between the two. Any help would be appreciated. I saw another post about a KB patch that needs to be run on the xp machine so the Vista machine can discover it.

Well I figured it out. I did indeed need the patch for XP to allow network discovery. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/922120 in case someone else looks here. I want to thank those who had posted responses to similar questions, which led me to that solution.
